The Sask Marathon takes place no matter the weather!
1. What are the distances for each event?
Marathon – 42.2 km (26.2 miles) Half-Marathon – 21.1 km (13.1 miles) 10 km (6.2 miles)
2. What are the start times for each event?
The Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10 km start at 7:00 a.m.
3. What are the entry fees and deadlines?
See ‘Registration Information’ under Registration.
4. Can I register on Race Day (Sunday, May 30)?
NO, THERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION!
5. Do I need to purchase a ticket to attend the Pasta Dinner?
Yes. Tickets for the Pasta Dinner are NOT automatically included with registration for the Saskatchewan Marathon. Ticket sales are now closed for the 2010 dinner.
6. When and where is Race Package Pick-Up?
2010 Race Package Pick-up will take place at TCU Place on Saturday, May 29 from 10 AM – 5:00 PM.
7. I can’t attend Race Package Pick-Up, can someone else pickup my package for me?
Yes, you are welcome to send a friend or family member to pick-up your Race Package if you are not able to attend Package Pick-Up. Be sure to send a signed note authorizing this individual to pick-up your Race Package. Race Packages will not be given to anyone other than the registered participant without the proper authorization. There will be absolutely no race day package pick-up and race packages will not be mailed out in advance.
8. Are walkers permitted and is there an early start for walkers?
Yes, walkers are permitted 10 km, Half-Marathon and Marathon event distances of the Saskatchewan Marathon. Walkers will start at 7:00 a.m. with all other participants but MUST start at the back of the Start "Pack" in order to avoid hazardous collisions. Please be reminded that the Saskatchewan Marathon course is open from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (6 hours). Later finishers will be required to finish on the sidewalk without support. Course timing closes at 1:00 p.m.
9. Are wheelchair/hand cycles permitted?
Yes! All Sask Marathon routes are wheelchair-accessible.
10. What are the time limits to complete the Marathon?
The Saskatchewan Marathon Course will be open for 6 hours, from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Later finishers will be required to finish on the sidewalk and without the support of Aid Stations and Course Marshals. Official timing closes at 1:00 p.m. Later finishers will not receive an official chip time.
11. Where should I park on Race Day?
Race day parking for Marathon participants and spectators will be available free of charge at the Mall at Lawson Heights (134 Primrose Dr.).
12. Are the Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 10 km courses hilly?
While the Saskatchewan Marathon does take place in the relatively flat prairie province of Saskatchewan, participants can expect some hills along the course.
13. Is the course certified and a Boston Marathon Qualifier?
Yes, the Saskatchewan Marathon Course is certified and recognized as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
14. How many aid stations and what type of fluid replacements will be offered?
The Saskatchewan Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10 km courses will have aid stations spaced approximately 3 kilometres apart. Each aid station will have water and orange flavoured Gu Brew.
Gu Energy Gels (assorted flavours) will be available to Marathon and Half-Marathon participants at the following stations: 11 km, 21 km, and 30 km..
15. Will any over-the-counter pharmaceuticals such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen be available at the Aid Stations?
The Saskatchewan Marathon strongly recommends that if you believe you will require any medications or pharmaceuticals including items such as Tylenol, Advil , or the like, that you plan for and bring your own. For situations that require emergency medical attention, MD Ambulance will be onsite and available.
16. Will there be portable bathrooms along the course?
Restroom facilities will be located at the Start/Finish Line Location and will be available at all Aid Stations.
17. Am I allowed to use my MP3 player during the race?
We strongly recommend that participants NOT use audio devices during the race. Although you may listen to music during training, you quickly become a hazard to yourself and over 2,000 other participants on race day when you cannot hear what is taking place around you.
18. Are bikes or inline skates allowed?
No, the Saskatchewan Marathon does not have a biking or inline skating event.
19. Can I participate with my jogging stroller or dog?
NO. Sorry, but the following items are not allowed on the Saskatchewan Marathon, Half-Marathon or 10 km Courses under any circumstances:
- Bicycles
- Inline Skates
- Jogging Strollers
- Pets
20. Will Participant Bag Drop be available?
Yes, Participant Bag Drop will be located near the Start Line. Participant’s bags will be identified with their bib number. Please be sure to retrieve your bag by the official close of the Saskatchewan Marathon course at 1:00 p.m.
21. Will there be post-race massage therapy available?
Yes, post-race massage therapy will be located near the Start/Finish Line location.
22. Are there specific age requirements to participate in the Saskatchewan Marathon events?
Yes, to participate in the 10K you must be 13 years of age or older as of May 30, 2010. To participate in the Half-Marathon and Marathon events you must be 18 years of age or older as of May 30, 2010.
