What is OnTrack?
The OnTrack Sask Marathon Program is a collaboration between the Saskatchewan Marathon and Craven SPORT Services to deliver race training. New for 2026, runners can now choose between Beginner and Advanced training groups for every race distance.
OnTrack Program Options
- 5K: 8-week program (Beginner & Advanced)
- 10K: 10-week program (Beginner & Advanced)
- Half Marathon: 16-week program (Beginner & Advanced)
- Full Marathon: 16-week program (Beginner & Advanced)
Which Group is Right for You?
Beginner Group
Ideal for new runners or those returning to training. Expect:
- Gradual build in mileage
- Run/walk options
- Focus on technique, pacing, and confidence
- Injury-prevention strategies
- Introduction to basic intervals
- Half and Full Marathon will include training and racing nutrition advice.
Advanced Group
Designed for experienced runners looking to improve performance. Includes:
- Higher weekly volume
- Structured workouts (intervals, tempo runs, progressions)
- Targeted race-pace training
- Performance-focused coaching
- Half and Full Marathon will include training and racing nutrition advice.
All programs are built to prepare you for your 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, or Full Marathon at the Saskatchewan Marathon on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
- Full Marathon: 16-week program (Beginner & Advanced) starts on February 9, 2026.
- Half Marathon: 16-week program (Beginner & Advanced) starts on February 9, 2026.
- 10K: 10-week program (Beginner & Advanced) starts on March 23, 2026.
- 5K: 8-week program (Beginner & Advanced) starts on April 6, 2025.

OnTrack is geared to:
- New runners looking to participate in their first race.
- Runners aspiring to be their best by improving their pace / finish time.
- People getting back into running after an injury or long break.
- People who want to follow a training program specific to improving performance based on their current performance abilities.
Register through the SaskMarathon Race Roster page.
- NOTE: you must be registered for the 2026 SaskMarathon 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or Full Marathon race to join the program
Before the program begins registered participants will receive:
- Pace – each registered participant completes a 2K timed run or walk on their own and will be provided a link to determine their own pace.
- Pre- program confirmation email includes what you need to participate and how to make the best of the program.
OnTrack will be delivered through weekly emails every Sunday for 16 weeks, 10 weeks or 8 weeks leading up to the Saskatchewan Marathon depending on the race length you sign up for. When you sign up, you get:
- A link with a video instructions on how to determine your pace.
- Weekly inspirational videos with Run and Race Tips, exercises, and nutrition advice.
- Opportunity to ask questions directly to your coaches and get your questions answered personally
With this program you will have the opportunity to:
- Build strength and flexibility.
- Improve your overall body mobility.
- Learn how hydration and nutrition affects your performance.
- Incorporate breathing exercises to help you relax and reduce stress.
- Set up your weekly training schedule.
- Understand the importance of rest days.
We’ll help you along the way!
- Opportunities for “tune–up” mini-races will help you track your improvement. These races will be timed and organized in Saskatoon, Regina, Swift Current, North Battleford, and more locations around the province – some free and some for a small extra cost. Information on these mini-races will be shared through the weekly newsletters
- Participants can ask specific questions and get responses from our team of experts and coaches privately or address the entire group so everyone can benefit from the information.

Bruce Craven – Craven SPORT Services
Bruce is an internationally recognized Sport Physiotherapist and Strength and Conditioning Coach, with over 31 years of experience working with athletes in over 40 different sports, competing at provincial, national, international and Olympic/Paralympic competitions. Bruce has his Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Associate clinical professor at the University of Saskatchewan School of Physical Therapy, a sessional lecturer in the College of Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan, an instructor for the National Coaches Association of Canada, and a member of the Canadian Sport Center’s National Sport Medicine and Science Committee. Bruce is a highly-sought presenter who couples expertise with skilled teaching abilities.
